About “Afeared”

Afeared is a one-woman black metal project from the Appalachian Mountains of western North Carolina, named for the archaic Appalachian English word meaning “scared” or “afraid.”

To survive is to fear; but to live is to defy fear.

Afeared weaves musical genres of the American South and Appalachia with nontraditional instrumentation into black metal to add vivid context and color to the visceral expression of pain.
